Ever since an art class I took in Jr. high, I always loved to find different ways to express my creativity, through sketching, paper crafts, and writing. But it wasn’t until my early adulthood while struggling with depression and anxiety, did I find that creativity had an element of healing and solace to it. My desire to express myself and hone my skill increased over time, especially in my late 30s, when I discovered art journaling. In the last decade, while grappling with past abuse and managing mental illness, I have found art not only to be healing while creating it, but healing in the things that God speaks to me in the finished work.
